Placing A Hold For Items From Other Helm Libraries

TO REQUEST ITEMS FROM OTHER HELM LIBRARIES BY PLACING A HOLD

Holds may be placed by BCC Students, Faculty and Staff through the HELM system.  We are no longer on the CW/Mars system, but you can still order books through that system using your Public Library Card.  You can also order books from throughout Massachusetts, including from Public Libraries, using the the ComCat system, described below.

  1. Navigate to our LIBRARY CATALOG.

  5. Conduct your search to locate the item.  Click on the Title.  Make sure it is available.  (Some entries are ebooks that are only accessible by members of a particular library)
  6. Choose PLACE HOLD on the right side of the page.

  7. When the item arrives (usually 3-5 business days), you will receive an email in your BCC account informing you that you may pick up your items at the Circulation Desk.

Searching Beyond The HELM Catalog By Using ComCat

As extensive as the collections contained in the HELM consortium are, you might find that you can't find what you want.  In that case you may want to extend your search to include the Commonwealth Catalog which will allow you to search the entire state of Massachusetts, including most public library collections. Requests will be delivered to your local library for pickup.

You can find the link for ComCat on the bottom of the HELM search page, or you can click here ComCat
