Student Resources for Remote Learning: Textbooks

Use this guide to find tools and resources for taking classes remotely. Also included in this guide are BCC library resources, all which can be accessed remotely. You will need your Student ID card to access some of these resources.

Free Electronic Textbooks from Publishers

  • In response to the Covid 19 pandemic, many publishers are providing FREE Access to eBook versions of their textbooks.
  • Students may borrow up to 7 books free of charge through May 25th.
  • Instructions for accessing free eBooks from RedShelf and VitalSource are provided below.

Note: You MUST use your BCC Email Address for free access to these eBooks.

VitalSource

Using VitalSource

  1. Use the link above to create a VitalSource account.
  2. Choose the Create a VitalSource Account link in the middle of the page
  3. Follow the instructions for creating an account
  4. Use your BCC Email Address to create this account
    1. You will be sent a verification link to your email address, you must verify your email address before using VitalSource
    2. If you do not receive a verification link, resend the verification link (there is a prompt on the page)
  5. Once you have created an account, you can search for and borrow up to 7 books free until May 25th.

RedShelf

Using RedShelf

  1. Use the link above to create a RedShelf account
  2. Click Log in at the upper right of the page
  3. Choose Create an Account
  4. Follow the instructions for creating an account
  5. Use your BCC Email Address to create this account
  6. You will be sent a verification link to your email address, you must verify your email address before using RedShelf

  7. Once you have created an account, you can search for and borrow up to 7 books free until May 25th.
